PRUNING 101
SATURDAY, JANUARY 28th at 10am
at VASHON TRUE VALUE

It's pruning time in the Pacific NW!  For most trees and shrubs, pruning is best done when the plant has entered dormancy (think winter hibernation) and knowing how to prune properly will encourage healthy plant growth, flowering and fruiting!

We'll start from the beginning to get you on the path to responsible pruning by looking at popular pruning tools and discussing what makes them different from one another and how they are best used.  We'll also take a look at ladders! I'll then move on to demonstrate how to properly clean and sharpen your tools to avoid spreading disease and ensure a clean cut promoting healthy healing. Now it's time to put those clean tools to work! But wait, we still have to discuss the elements that make up a branch and address the 4 basic rules to keep in mind when pruning. Ok, now we're ready! I'll demonstrate the different types of pruning cuts and perhaps more importantly, what you should never do (or admit to doing). We'll also discuss how to keep yourself safe and implement proper pruning posture.

You're feeling confident, you're now ready to tackle that tangled mess and bring order to your orchard and we want to see you start off on the right foot that's why True Value will be offering an EXCLUSIVE DEMO DISCOUNT on pruning related products including (but not limited to) ladders! loppers! pruning saws and dormant sprays! So take advantage of this discount and get yourself setup for success! Stop by the demo to receive your discount coupon and stay awhile to enjoy a fun, interactive demonstration!
